About the Hillsmere Vendor Directory

Every recommendation comes from a neighbor.

When something breaks in your home, your first instinct is to ask a neighbor who they use. That conversation over the fence, at the mailbox, or in the community Facebook group is how Hillsmere residents have always found the best local vendors. This site takes all of those scattered recommendations and puts them in one place — organized, searchable, and always available.

How It Works

Every vendor in this directory was recommended by at least one Hillsmere resident. When your neighbor posts in the community Facebook group that their plumber did a great job, or mentions at an HOA meeting that they found a fantastic electrician, or sends a note to the email list about a reliable landscaper — that recommendation gets captured here. The recommender's name is attached, and where possible, we link directly to the original post so you can see the conversation for yourself.

Vendors can accumulate multiple endorsements from different neighbors over time. When three of your neighbors independently recommend the same handyman, that tells you something no star rating on Yelp ever could. You can see exactly who recommended each vendor, when they did it, and what they said.

We gather recommendations from every corner of the Hillsmere community:

What Makes This Different

Sites like Yelp, Angi, and Google Reviews serve a purpose, but they have a fundamental problem: you don't know who's writing those reviews. And many of those platforms let vendors pay for better placement, which means the first result isn't necessarily the best — it's the one that paid the most.

This directory is different. When Sarah Mitchell recommends Mike's Plumbing, you might know Sarah. She lives in your neighborhood. You've seen her at the community picnic. Her recommendation carries weight because she's a real person in your community with a reputation of her own. That kind of trust can't be manufactured by algorithms or bought with advertising dollars.

We don't rank vendors by who pays us. We don't boost listings based on ad spend. The vendors you see first are simply the ones with the most endorsements from your neighbors. It's a system built on genuine community trust, and we think that's the way it should be.

The directory currently includes 93 vendors across 43 service categories, backed by 127 individual endorsements from Hillsmere residents. And it's growing as more neighbors share their experiences.
